Using scrutiny to drive outcomes: Improving quality of life for people with learning disabilities in Scotland

The Centre for Public Scrutiny (CfPS) and the Scottish Commission for Learning Disability (SCLD) have published a report designed to better understand the responsibilities scrutiny bodies have and the possible contributions they can make towards meeting learning disability policy and strategy outcomes. The report makes five recommendations based around the key messages of: a human rights approach to improving quality of life; the importance of good data and insight; and effective community leadership.

Over the Internet, Under the Radar - Prevention of Online Child Sexual Abuse and Exploitation in Scotland

The Centre for Youth and Criminal Justice (CYCJ) and Barnardo’s Scotland have published a joint paper which calls for engagement with technology industries to prevent children being harmed online. The paper also recommends a national e-safety strategy for Scotland, as well as a clear assessment framework around technology. Additionally, the paper identifies significant gaps in relation to research around adolescent risk tasking behaviour online.

'Trees That Bend In The Wind’- Exploring The Experiences Of Front Line Support Workers Delivering Palliative And End Of Life Care

Antimicrobial stewardship changing risk-related behaviours in the general population

The National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) has published guidance recommending all children and young people, from pre-school to university age, be taught the importance of simple hygiene measures, such as hand washing and managing common infections themselves. The guidance and recommendations aim to educate the general public in how they can contribute in the battle against antimicrobial resistance.

Supporting and Empowering Scotland's Citizens: National Action Plan for Technology Enabled Care
