Staff working in adult social care are invited to register for our webinar on keeping antibiotics working and what this means in practice.
Keeping antibiotics working (also known as antimicrobial stewardship or AMS) is everyone’s responsibility, no matter your role within adult social care. Antimicrobial resistance (AMR), drug resistant infections and other antimicrobial-related risks are a threat to us all and everyone should be aware of what they can do within their personal and working lives to reduce these risks.
The webinar is aimed at all staff who work in adult social care.
Aims of the webinar
- raise awareness of antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship across adult social care, including care home and care at home staff groups
- provide an opportunity to explore what antimicrobial resistance and antimicrobial stewardship mean in practice through a question and answer session.
Learning objectives
- understand what antimicrobial resistance is and how this occurs through antibiotic use and misuse
- increase understanding of antimicrobial stewardship and how this applies to your role
- highlight the importance of multidisciplinary teams working in the delivery of antimicrobial stewardship, as keeping antibiotics working is everybody’s business.
We will be joined by Jo McEwen, Lead Antimicrobial Stewardship Nurse; David Shepherd, Senior Antimicrobial Stewardship Nurse; and Sabine Nolte, Principal Educator, NHS Education for Scotland.
