Loose Parts Play Training

Loose parts aren’t prescriptive and offer limitless possibilities. A stick, for example, may become a fishing rod, a tool to nudge a football that is stuck in a tree; it can be thrown, floated, snapped, pinged, bent, hidden, added to a pile, burnt, tied to something else, split, catapulted or discarded.

Loose Parts can create exciting play opportunities in the most barren of spaces.

We can provide Loose Parts Play for your establishment, or we can help you set it up and help you train staff in loose parts play theory.

Training will be designed around your requirements

Training Provider Overview

Established in 2016 OutLET: Play Resource is a Community Interest Company based in Lesmahagow, South Lanarkshire. Lanarkshire’s only Forest School Association accredited Forest School Provider, we work tirelessly towards our goal of using Play and Culture to ‘Level the Playing Field’ for those affected by social, emotional or economic deprivation.

Training is led by Susan McNeish, a retired Countryside Ranger and Forest School Tutor. Susan also has an ITC Level 3 Award in Education and Training which is designed for people working in the further education and skills sector.  Jackie Meager, an ex-armed forces engineer/ fire fighter and Forest School Leader and company CEO is also involved in our training. We have a wealth of knowledge and experience delivering outdoor play and learning.

The training we provide is perfect for Early Years Practitioners, Teachers, Child Minders, Outdoor Playgroup Leaders or anyone with an interest in getting people outdoors!

Courses are offered in two ways – establishments contact us directly and we run courses tailored for them or we advertise a course and individuals book on.

All of our courses run with a high ratio of tutors to students.  Our Fire and Tool Skills training has a ratio of 1:8. If a course is over-subscribed we will advertise another course and offer places to people on our waiting list.

Current training that we offer

  • Fire and Tool Skills Training
